The UNL Leadership Institute Program is a partnership effort of the Chair Academy and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) for completion of the Chair Academy program and the completion of the work required by UNL.

Participants who attend the first week-long session of the Academy can register with UNL for 9 hours.

They are then assigned a mentor and the majority of the work will be done between the
participant and that mentor. Together they will use the IPDP from the Academy to develop a Professional Development Plan and complete other projects over the 12 month Academy timeframe. The year’s activities end with attendance at the second week of the Academy.

After credits are earned, participants may transfer them to another university or program or use them for the doctoral or masters degree at UNL.

As of summer, 2008, participants also have the option of earning a Community College Leadership Certificate. This is completely separate from any kind of graduate degree. To learn more, please go to

Academy for Leadership and Development graduates who have earned a Certificate of
Completion are eligible to apply to Nova Southeastern University’s Ed.D in Education
program, Fischler School of Education and Human Services, and receive six doctoral
credits towards completion of their advanced degree. Academy Graduates must provide a
photocopy of their Certificate of Completion as verification of successful completion of the
leadership program. Certificate of Completion holders are also eligible to earn three additional practicum elective credits towards the ED.D in Education, following submission of their Mid and Final Program Reflection Reports, with approval of acceptance from Fischler School of Education and Human Services doctoral faculty.

Certificate of Completion holders entering the Ed.D in Education program are eligible for an educational incentive of %15 tuition discount toward fees associated with the doctoral program.
